Fab Opens a New Two-Week Window for Three Free Creator Asset Packs
A new official Fab promotion runs from November 3 through November 17 and includes an underground tunnel, a science-fiction creature and a 3D platformer mechanics bundle. Compatibility and licensing still need to be checked per listing.
Epic's Fab marketplace has refreshed its limited-time free content selection, giving developers a new opportunity to evaluate assets without the usual acquisition price. According to the official Epic Developer Community forum update published on November 3, 2026, the current selection runs from 15:00 UTC on November 3 until 14:59 UTC on November 17.
Three products are named in the announcement. Underground Tunnel, by MacKenzie Shirk, addresses environment construction. SciFi Beast06 Bull, by Shumniy, offers a creature asset. The third product, Raul Jaramillo's 3D Platformer Game Bundle, is associated with rail grinding, ziplines, homing attacks and dash-pad mechanics. The list spans scenery, character art and gameplay-oriented content, which makes it useful for several different types of prototypes.
The word free needs qualification. The announcement confirms the promotional acquisition window, not a blanket promise that every package is compatible with every Unreal Engine version or free of licensing conditions. Each Fab listing should be checked for supported formats, intended engine versions, required dependencies, product license and any platform limitations before being used in a project. The three products may also serve different software ecosystems.
For a developer creating a playable demonstration, the platformer bundle is potentially the most direct time-saver. Movement systems are difficult to evaluate from screenshots because input timing, collision behavior and network assumptions determine whether a mechanic feels good. A sensible test would import the bundle into a disposable project and run one of its mechanics independently of other gameplay systems.
Environment artists might instead evaluate the underground scene for materials, collisions, level structure and lighting cost. A creature model should be assessed for geometry, rigging, texture sets and animation availability, if those elements are supplied. Avoid relying on assumptions derived from its promotional thumbnail. Record the actual package contents after downloading.
A team could use this promotion to create a compact technical comparison: one test map for each relevant product, a packaged-build check and a brief note about what must be modified before production use. That is more useful than adding a large quantity of untested content to a live repository. Asset acquisition is not the same as asset integration.
Fab's recurring promotion also gives developers a reminder to archive purchase records and applicable licensing information. The announcement specifies the window precisely, but it does not replace the individual product pages as the source of licensing and compatibility terms. The immediate action is to inspect the listings while the promotion is active and claim only the products that fit a real development need.
